I have never been able to follow up current events, well, unless they are really interesting or somewhat impacting my life. Honestly, I read the comics section everyday at lunch. Don’t discount them – they offer some laugh and some insights into life, and believe it or not, they do portrait events happening now, locally or internationally.
Enough about my reading habits.
Browsing through CBC today, and this article (http://www.cbc.ca/thenational/indepthanalysis/gopublic/story/2012/02/24/bc-motelbaby.html) caught my attention. I will not go into details, because you can just follow the link and read for yourselves.
Being a new father, this makes me very uncomfortable. People come to Canada in search for a better life, not just for themselves, but also better life for our children. For this to happen is not only tragic, it’s disrespectful of human rights, and it begs the question what does it mean to be a Canadian. Government policies and bureaucratic aside, exceptions should be made in exceptional cases like this.
