When people mention the phrase “Dream Team,” the first link would be to the famous 1992 USA Basketball Team. It marks the first time NBA players are allowed to participate in Olympic events. The results? Eleven wins, no losses, winning on an average of 43.8 points. Dominance? Michael Jordan was not even the leading scorer in the tournament. Sir Charles Barkley was.
Considering how good the team was, it’s easy to overlook the talent that was put together on this team. Stars with the mission to not just win it all, but to enjoy it all in the process. They want to show how basketball can, and should, be played. Talents alone will not be enough; games are to be played with passion and teamwork.
Pippen, Jordan, Johnson, Robinson, Ewing, Stockton, Malone, Mullin, Drexler, Bird, Laettner, and Barkley, led by coach Chuck Daly, became the greatest team ever assembled in basketball.
